Muir’s Playoff Run Ends With 5-3 Loss to Lakewood in CIF-SS DIV 6 Quarterfinals

The Mustangs entered the matchup riding a three-game winning streak, but the Lancers did enough to hold off Muir and advance to the semifinal round. Muir finished with three runs on six hits and no errors, while Lakewood scored five runs on 10 hits and also played error-free baseball.


Senior center fielder, Kahlil Rishwain helped lead the Mustangs at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Rishwain continued his strong stretch on the basepaths, recording at least one stolen base for the fifth consecutive game.


Sophomore Sergio Rodriquez also came through for Muir, finishing 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.


For Lakewood, Xavier Nunez led the Lancers by going 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and a stolen base. Nick Gallegos added a strong performance, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The loss closed out Muir’s season with a 17-8 record. Lakewood improved to 14-17 and has now won four of its last five games.


The Lancers will next take on Covina on Tuesday, May 26, in the semifinal round of the 2026 CIF Southern Section Ford Division 6 Baseball Championships.
