Owls’ Furious Fourth-Quarter Rally Falls Just Short Against Saddleback

GLENDORA, Calif. — Saddleback College survived a 29-point fourth-quarter explosion by Citrus College to earn a wild 39-36 victory Saturday night. For Saddleback, Qayden Coleman returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown, Jagger Blauwkamp scored on a 94-yard kickoff return and Manuel Maganda made three field goals, including a crucial 50-yarder with 1:31 remaining.

For Citrus, Connor Underhill passed for 478 yards and four touchdowns. Lorenza Simmons caught 10 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns and added an 85-yard kickoff return for another score. The Owls scored with 12 seconds remaining but were unable to recover the ensuing onside kick.

It was a very warm and slightly humid night in Glendora, but also a beautiful late-summer evening for an unforgettable finish.
