San Gabriel Valley Athletes Turn Up the Heat at 2026 Track and Field Championships

COVINA, Calif. — Athletes from across the region gathered at Covina District Field on April 18 for the 19th Annual San Gabriel Valley Track and Field Championships. With varsity and frosh-soph competitors representing schools throughout the San Gabriel Valley, the packed meet featured a full day of sprints, distance races, hurdles, relays and field events. The afternoon temperatures were warm, but the competition was even hotter as athletes battled for medals, championship patches and regional bragging rights.

Among the notable performances, Pasadena senior Jaziah Sanford captured the varsity boys’ 100-meter title in 10.86 seconds, while Flintridge Prep senior Scarlett Coombes won the varsity girls’ 100 in 12.31. Bonita’s Solia Waters and Ace Harrison swept the varsity 400-meter championships, and Muir freshman Darren Rogers delivered an impressive sprint double by winning the frosh-soph boys’ 100 in 11.12 and the 200 in 22.40. From the opening field events through the final races, the meet showcased the depth, speed and emerging talent of San Gabriel Valley track and field.
